You feel the intense heat against your face as you make your way down the road, and you see towering flames in the near distance getting closer. You realize that there isn’t much time left before the fire engulfs the entire forest around you and destroys the horse ranch with it.
You start running in the direction of the ranch. You notice that there are about a dozen panicked horses frantically running in circles in the paddock. It is apparent that they can’t get out on their own. Further in the distance, you can see the rancher at a barn. He is spraying water from a garden hose, desperately trying to put out a part of the fire that has blocked the entrance to the barn.
It is hard to discern over the neighing of the horses, but you determine that the rancher is calling out the names of his children that are trapped inside of the barn.
“I don’t know if I can get there fast enough to help the rancher,” you tell Winston. “Go help him.”
“I don’t think that I am strong enough to help, and I don’t want to leave your side,” Winston replies.
You say:
“If we help the horses first, maybe we can ride one and get to the rancher quicker.” {W-6-A}
Or“There’s no time to lose. We have to save those kids!” {W-6-B}
