“Look there!” Lolo cries, “just under its face, there’s a broken piece of brick that looks like it came off of the pet shop!”
“Maybe that’s the magic that’s animating it!” you say.
“Throw me up as high as you can, “ Lolo directs you.
“What?” you ask. “You want me to do what?”
“Something crazy that is going to turn her into roadkill,” Tasi says.
“It does sound crazy but I think I know what she is planning,” Singer says. “Throw her now!”
You immediately grab Lolo and throw her as high in the air as you can while Singer howls supersonically to make sure the junk monster knows where you are. Lolo flies through the air above the junk monster’s head as it throws a huge chunk of galvanized steel at her. She lands on top of the chunk of steel as it falls back down, onto the junk monster’s head. She laughs as she jumps off of the momentarily disabled threat.
“I told you I knew what to do,” Lolo says, beaming. “We need to take out that brick quickly before it has a chance to recover.”
“I’m impressed,” you say as you pick up Tasi and look her in the face. “Aren’t you,Tasi?”
“Let’s just get the brick and get out of here,” Tasi replies.
“And go where?” Singer asks. “We lost the pet shop.”
“Maybe we can use this to help,” Lolo says as she drops the piece of brick at your feet.
“And maybe we can use it to get a GPS device to work for us,” Singer says. “I’m pretty sure I saw one inside one of those junked cars back there.”
You follow Singer to the car she indicated, and see a small GPS device attached to the dashboard.
You say:
“This brick is too unpredictable to attach to anything else in the junkyard. No way!” {D-7-E}
