Your start to trip over your own feet as you can’t feel them any more due to the hours of delivering presents. You didn’t know that feet could get completely numb from walking so much. It feels like you have worn through the bottom of your shoes but it is so dark that you can’t even see them, or where you’re stepping. Winston squawks quietly and perches on a dead tree branch.

“Ok, I’m done,” you say as you collapse on the ground. “I can’t….I won’t deliver any more.” Winston flutters to the ground next to you, lifting up a small cloud of dust in your face in protest.

Uncle Wally smiles, and says, “You’ve done enough yet you are so close to our destination.”

You are exhausted and can’t understand how this old man still has so much energy. “Maybe you can carry me,” you joke.

“That’s not a bad idea,” he says, and suddenly you see his body stretch and grow into an enormous, misty form of a giant looking down. Thunder rumbles all around you as you gaze up toward his face, which is partly wrapped in a cloud, and you fall onto your back in disbelief.

You realize that he still bears a resemblance to the man you knew as Uncle Wally, but now he is impossibly tall and gangly, with eyes flashing like lightning and hair that looks like storm clouds.

“What… I mean, who are you?” you ask, but then you realize with horror that he can’t answer because he doesn’t have a mouth! This sight is too much for Winston and he launches off into the night and out of sight.

You say:

“Wait Winston, Don’t leave me. I’m coming with you!” {W-8-B}

Or

“Come back! He’s our friend!” {W-8-A}
