You grab the plaque before attempting to grab the kitten as you figure that the plaque won’t try to scratch you. The kitten seems angry when you grab the plaque, yet docile when you free it from the entangling foliage. You bring them both down from the tree and place them on the ground in front of the dogs.
“I told you the kitten needed rescuing, “Tasi says.
“I didn’t need rescuing,” the kitten says.
“You could have fooled me,” Tasi says. “And I’m glad you brought down whatever that thing is because otherwise it would have been stuck there forever.”
“I was going to get that map and find where he was going,” the kitten informs you.
“Map?” You ask.
“Yes,” the kitten replies. “Let me show you.”
You all huddle around the kitten. Before you know what’s happened, he bares his claws, scratches all of you and tears the paper map from the plaque it was attached to.
The kitten runs off with amazing speed while you clutch at the painful scratches.
“I guess we did offend him after all,” Lolo says.
“And now we have no clues to find the pet shop,” you say.
“Thanks, Tasi.” Singer says. “This is what happens when you assume the worst of others.”
You don’t know where to go or what to do at this point, yet are sure that you don’t want to make that same mistake again in the future.
