You choose a door and luckily find a stairwell. Rushing up the stairs, you slip and bang your knee on the smooth, metallic surface. Slowing down, you cautiously hold onto the walls as you climb the stairs.

“Is it getting harder for you to breath?” you ask Neko-chan as you slowly climb up the steps.

“I thought it was me,” he replies.

You reach down and pick him up.

“I can do it if you can,” Neko-chan says.

“These steps are bigger than you are,” you say. “I am walking up them. You have to jump.”

“Do you think we’re getting close?” Neko-chan asks.

“Closer than you think,” the pet shop owner says, surprising you both, “But you need to work on sneaking up on people.”

Neko-chan leaps from your hand to attack the pet shop owner, but with the wave of his hand, the pet shop owner suspends him in midair.

“You really don’t know how powerful we are, do you?” the pet shop owner says. “I would have thought that when I transported you two through space and time, you would’ve figured it out.”

“We just-” you begin.

“Enough of this,” the pet shop owner interrupts. “You are never going to bother me again.”

He magically lifts you into the air, flips you upside down, and shakes you. You begin to feel something strange happening inside of your head. Then your vision goes completely black.

You wake up in your room excited at the prospect of going to the pet shop for the first time.

“Today’s the day!” you proclaim.
