“I want to warn you about Dr. Volitan,” Toby says. “He isn’t your normal lionfish. Some of the older fish in the sea remember when he was very different.”

“How so?” you ask.

“Something happened to him after those massive bombs exploded over Bikini Atoll. He looks strange. His head is double the size of any other fish I’ve met. It made him smarter.”

“Smarter?” you say.

“Definitely,” Toby says. “He is actually the president of the council and until now has been a great leader. The last time we met thought, something was off. He proposed that we create our own technology to destroy human society.”

“Why would he want to do that?” you ask.

“Revenge, I guess,” Toby offers. “We can talk about it more once we find the pearl. It is just down this cave in the coral reef.”

Toby disappears into the darkness, and a moment later swims out as fast as he can, screaming in terror.

“It’s a moray eel!” he cries out, as a giant, green moray lunges out after him, it’s gaping jaws snapping menacingly. You think the eel is about to eat Toby, but then realize that it only looks frightening. The moray swims out of its cave, and over to you, turning upside down playfully.

“Wait, Toby!” you call out. “He’s a friendly eel! He just wants someone to scratch his chin!”

“Forget the eel!” Toby says. “I had the pearl, but in my fright, I’ve dropped it. Do you see it?”

You look around and see a huge lionfish accompanied by two mutated white-tip sharks coming towards you. They have the pearl and grins on their faces.

“Are you looking for this,” Dr. Volitan asks, “because I know that I certainly was. Thank you for leading us straight to it. Get that goby!” The two sharks lunge toward Toby while Dr. Volitan swims away with the pearl.

You say:

“Swim, Toby, Swim! I‘m coming to help you!” {F-5-A}
