“Looks like you aren’t cut out for this, nevermind.” Neko-chan says.

“Wait,” you say. “I just said hold on for a second.”

“No time for that. You just don’t have what it takes,” he says as he walks away from you, hops up onto a narrow shelf near the hatch, and then pauses to lick his paws as he waits.

“I guess none of the kittens are choosing me,” you call out, hoping to get the pet shop owner’s attention so he will let you out of the starship.

“Maybe you could pick your pet, like a fish or a bird,” the pet shop owner suggests.

Before you can answer, you see Neko-chan sneak past the pet shop owner and you yell out, “Neko-chan!”

You almost knock down the pet shop owner and run after the kitten. Soon, you chase Neko-chan out the front door and around the back of the pet shop. You think you see him run up a tree when you hear loud barking behind you. The pet shop owner is holding two leashes attached to the biggest and meanest-looking dogs you’ve ever seen.

“Where did that kitten go?” the pet shop owner yells over the loud barking.

“I’m not sure,” you say, fearing for Neko-chan’s life.

“Let’s split up and find him,” the pet shop owner says, “and when we do, he’s going to know what’s good for him! Do you want one of these dogs to help you?”

“No thanks,” you say. “I have a feeling that it would just scare the kitten away.” Or eat it, you think.

You walk in the direction opposite the dogs until they are out of sight and then you run back to the tree. Neko-chan jumps down into your arms.

“Thanks for looking out for me,” Neko-chan says, “but we still need to avoid those dogs and make it to the shipyard.”

You say:

“The shipyard? What at the shipyard?” {C-4-B}

“We need to go somewhere safe. I’m taking you home.” {C-4-A}
